I’ve been following Modé’s work from a distance for years now. I’m glad I now have this space to share my favourite things with you. Modé Aderinoku is an artist; all-through. From watercolours to portrait sketches to photography to fashion illustration to her custom gadget skins and accessories and comics! Yes, comics. I only recently discovered Jand Comic. It’s original and funny.

(Isn’t it great that these exist?)

Original is a word I’d use to describe Modé’s work any time. She did a collaboration last year with Nigerian House of Tara and photographer, Toyosi Faridah Kekere-Ekun – to bring to life some of her gadget skin art and if you’ve seen it before, no matter! It’s such a visual pleasure and I’m impressed by the outcome.

Here are two images from an old collection lookbook that I adored (look at that model!)

What excites me the most though, is her experimental work. I found these on Tumblr and the otherness of it is inspiring.
