There is something ethereal about Kunmi Owopetu’s photography; light, delicate, yet exquisite. Almost like if you look at it long enough, you’d be transported out of this world. I’ll be completely honest with you, after I typed the first line, I opened up the dictionary to be sure “ethereal” was the right word to convey how I feel about Kunmi’s work, and the Merriam-Webster dictionary defines it as resembling heaven, seeming to belong to another world… marked by unusual delicacy or refinement. And that, my friends, is the perfect description for Kunmi’s photography. I couldn’t have said it better myself. My work here is done *dusts palms*
It doesn’t matter what he is capturing; scenes, landscapes, portraits… his subjects seem to come alive; even take another life form, seen through his lens. When I look at his work, I immediately think “this is ART”, for how it makes me feel.
I have a lot to say about Kunmi’s photography and creative directing, about his use of light and space, but I should just let the pictures speak…
I had a hard time selecting what images to use for this post; too many incredible shots to choose from. You should follow him on Instagram to see more of the amazing stuff he puts up.
