I’ve loved Araki Koman since the first time I laid my eyes on her Instagram page. It’s more than this 29-yr old French illustrator’s illustrations, graphic design & photography – it’s her style, it’s her vibe, it’s the hard work we see her put in with her challenges. Anyone who has me on WhatsApp can testify to my obsession (I’ve been using your work as display photos, Araki) or anyone who’s seen my past two desktop wallpapers.
Her work is equal parts simple and complex – showing how a few twisted, curled and filled-in lines can cause a visceral reaction.
“My style is very minimalist using simple strokes with limited color palettes and tools. Women, fashion, travel and multiculturalism are also very recurring themes in my work, mostly because that’s what I know best.”
