One of my fondest memories of the house I grew up in is knocking on the big, brass back door. It was my preferred option. Between that and the glass door in front, I’d choose the brass every time! The peculiar sound it made was my jam. Loved it even more when it was repainted in red. And when I spent a year in a great aunt’s house, long before the really high ceilings, rooftop garden, music room + prettiest grand piano, and massive kitchen, it was the big brown door with its unusual knocker that I first fell in love with.
A few weeks ago, someone tagged me on a photo on Instagram with the comment, “I thought you might like this”. It was the picture of a window with glass louvres, on a stone wall almost entirely covered with plants, a white bicycle + black shopping basket attached resting against the wall. She was right, I did like it. A lot. Enough to take a screenshot to add to my growing collection of images of doors and windows.
And it’s from that collection I’m sharing today. For no other reason than I think they are really pretty and one could never have too much pretty to look at. These are some of my favourites from the stash.
